Hyundai from the USA — which models get 0% duty

7 Hyundai models in our database show up with American assembly, while 18 arrive only from plants outside the USA. The preference in force since 2026-07-01 cuts duty to 0% instead of 10%, but what counts is where the individual car was put together — two cars of one model can carry different rates.

Which Hyundai models are assembled in the USA?

American assembly covers part of the Hyundai range rather than the whole badge. The table lists the countries the cars of each model actually came from and whether 0% or 10% is in play. A mixed status means the model is built on two continents, so the individual VIN settles it.

Models of “American” brands without zero duty

18 Hyundai models have only ever reached us from plants outside the USA, and those enter the EU at 10%. That is not a lesser version of the car: the difference sits in the assembly country, which follows the manufacturer's production plan rather than the target market or the trim.

How do you check a specific car?

Start with the first three characters of the VIN — on a US-assembled Hyundai that is most often 5NM. It is a good hint rather than proof: the prefix describes the manufacturer and the country, while we reach for the record of the actual plant, so the answer covers this one car.

How much will you save?

The gap is 10% of customs value: that is what a car outside the preference pays, against nothing on a Hyundai assembled in the USA. The effect doubles up, because 23% VAT is charged on the value with duty added, so a zero rate also lowers the tax base. The calculator works it out on your car's figures.

Zero-duty paperwork — our job

Our customs agency handles the formalities. We collect the assembly data, prepare the declaration and run the clearance — for a Hyundai that qualifies on its VIN we apply for 0% duty. The rate finally granted is the customs office's decision, taken on the documents submitted.
